Funky experiments in Lightroom

I had a bit of fun tonight trying out new things in Lightroom - on a selection of Lauren's film shots from Lake Macquarie and Church Point.

Mostly working with high contrast photos, I investigated different ways of balancing the photos - and the impact each way had on the colour spectrum of the image. I came out with many alternate edits for each photo, but I've selected my favourites for the gallery below.

This shot had little to no detail in the shadows originally. After dropping the highlights and increasing contrast among other things, the colours juxtaposed on top and bottom of the image. I shifted the temperature and this funky number emerged.

Once again, the subject in this photo was buried in shadow due to the sunset. After an initial light balance (alternate edit in gallery), I opted for a black and white image, where I attempted to define and expose the previously lost subject. In doing this I've been inspired to work with black and white film, after seeing the detail and beauty that shades of grey can draw the eye to when colour is ignored. I think I'll pick up some B&W ISO 100 soon.
